Guided tours

For hundreds of years, stories about people and the world have been told at the Stadsschouwburg. Actors found their voice in this monumental building and dancers created their first choreographies here. On a tour of Amsterdam's most beautiful building, doors open that stay closed to other audiences. Pupils learn more about the history of theatre and about the influence theatre has had on the Dutch language. Vondel, for instance, was the first to use the word ‘schouwburg’, for the opening of the playhouse in Amsterdam. Pupils explore their own role and discover how to find their voice.
