Department Coordinator Costume / Hair & Make-up / Dressing

Are you a strong organiser and manager with a feel for theatre and the performing arts? Can you translate artistic designs into something that can actually be made, and do you thrive on leading a team of skilled craftspeople? Then we'd like to meet you. We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to lead our wardrobe department with expertise and initiative.

What will you be doing?

As Wardrobe Department Coordinator you are responsible for how the department runs, making sure that costume, hair and make-up work is carried out to the highest standard within the artistic and financial framework of our productions. You are the link between designers, artistic management, the assistant director, production management and the department's staff.

You are responsible for managing the department's materials, equipment and resources. As a manager you coach and motivate staff and encourage their professional development.

  • You have experience coordinating work processes and leading a team, preferably in a production, workshop or creative environment
  • You can weigh up different interests — artistic, practical and organisational — and make clear choices between them
  • You plan work well and organise it methodically, and you can adjust when the schedule or circumstances change
  • You communicate clearly and work effectively with colleagues from different disciplines
  • You keep an overview, set priorities, and spot opportunities and bottlenecks on your own initiative so that improvements can be made
  • You are able to translate artistic ambitions into something that can realistically be made, and to advise designers, directors and production management constructively on this
  • You have experience guiding processes of change and know how to bring staff along with new ways of working
