HANS KESTING PLAYS WHO KILLED MY FATHER IN ENGLISH IN LONDON
Exclusively for The Young Vic, Hans Kesting performs his acclaimed monologue Who Killed My Father, directed by Ivo van Hove, in English. From Wednesday 7 to Saturday 24 September 2022, the play, based on the book by Édouard Louis, will be performed at The Young Vic theatre in London.
The Young Vic is one of London's leading theatres. In 2015, the monologue Song from Far Away (Simon Stephens) with Eelco Smits, directed by Ivo van Hove, was also staged here for three weeks.
Ivo van Hove: 'After having worked with great pleasure on A View from the Bridge and Eelco Smits' monologue at The Young Vic, I am looking forward to coming back with Hans Kesting with this beautiful and, above all, necessary monologue'.
-|-Hans Kesting: 'London is a city where we have performed with ITA many times with great success. I can only hope that the audience will react with the same enthusiasm to Who Killed My Father. Three weeks at The Young Vic. In English. I'm looking forward to it.'
Who Killed My Father
Who Killed My Father is the story of a visit Édouard Louis made to his father after a long absence, whom he discovered almost unrecognisable. The man had grown old and sick prematurely; the result of a life marked by alcohol, social disadvantage, hard work and an industrial accident. Louis blames politicians, who have virtually no influence on their lives. The underclass, on the other hand, is crippled by the cuts in benefits.
Who Killed My Father had its world premiere in Internationaal Theater Amsterdam on 1 June 2020, in cooperation with co-producer de Singel, Antwerp.
Ticket sales start on 19 May via The Young Vic website.
