October 31 / Internationaal Theater Amsterdam

ITA presents Alice in Wonderland, in a special collaboration with Het Parool

Internationaal Theater Amsterdam and Het Parool are collaborating in a new online video project. Actors from ITA, joined by special guest actors, a.o. Nasrdin Dchar, Noortje Herlaar, Paul de Leeuw, Pierre Bokma and Wende Snijders, will read the Alice in Wonderland stories by Lewis Carroll daily from 31 October.

Halina Reijn kicks off the series and Joy Delima, who has joined the ITA ensemble this season, will read the last instalment on December 23. The 54 episodes will be subtitled in English and have been assembled by Johan Reyniers.

Other actors are, in alphabetical order, Achraf Koutet, Aus Greidanus jr., Bart Slegers, Celia Nufaar, Chris Nietvelt, Eelco Smits, Frieda Pittoors, Gaite Jansen, Gijs Scholten van Aschat, Hadewych Minis, Hajo Bruins, Hans Kesting, Hugo Koolschijn, Ilke Paddenburg, Jacob Derwig, Janni Goslinga, Maarten Heijmans, Majd Mardo, Maria Kraakman, Marieke Heebink, Mark Rietman, Ramsey Nasr, Steven Van Watermeulen, Thomas Cammaert and Vanja Rukavina.

Ivo van Hove: "Alice in Wonderland is a story that takes a journey into an undiscovered world, that takes us along in the adventures of little Alice who, burning with curiosity, runs after a large White Rabbit and tumbles down a rabbit hole. There she finds herself in an underground world that is populated with the most wonderful creatures of which she would otherwise never have known. It is a compelling adventure that can make us dream away in these - now also literally - dark days. Alice in Wonderland is an invitation to think outside the box, to explore other ways of thinking. It begs the question: how to survive in a world that is constantly changing, where nothing is what it used to be?"

After a previous collaboration with VPRO, this is the "sequel" to Decameron, the series of stories that ran from March 23 to May 30 during the first lockdown.

The very first episode of a total of 54 episodes, with English subtitles, can be seen on Saturday 31 October at 5 p.m. via ita.nl/alice and parool.nl/video.
