Leidsebuurt celebrates ADE with Leidse Stage
The Leidse neighbourhood is buzzing during Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). ADE is the moment when Amsterdam puts itself on the international map as a city of music. What makes our programme special is that we organise it together as the Leidse neighbourhood: the municipality, hospitality entrepreneurs and cultural institutions are joining forces for Leidse Stage, a free pop-up stage on Leidseplein, headlined by techno icon Richie Hawtin.
Richie Hawtin on Leidseplein
For the second time in ADE history, Hawtin will play on an Amsterdam square. In 2017 he opened the festival with a surprise set on Nieuwmarkt; this year he closes the Leidse Stage programme between 7:00 and 8:00 pm. Also on stage from 3:00 pm are Luigi Madonna, Kristin Velvet, Ogazón and Amsterdam talent Shown.
Stage of the City
Leidse Stage is an initiative of the Leidse neighbourhood to jointly create a ‘Stage of the City’: a place where music, culture, hospitality and the public come together in surprising ways. And of course, we’re also opening the doors of The Bookshop. Besides music, ADE is also about the stories, the encounters and the cultural legacies that underpin it.
ADE x The Bookshop
On October 22, we will welcome Nigerian musician Lady Donli and Brazilian producer and DJ Raiany Sinara for a special ADE edition of Bookshop Invites starting at 20:30 for an evening about music, memory, and heritage. On October 24, Rooted in Culture will explore the dance floor as a place for expression, activism, and connection, with attention to the central role of BIPOC and queer communities within the underground club scene.
