Alwin graduated in 2001 from the Dora van der Groen Drama Academy in Antwerp. Between 2001 and 2016, he was a permanent member of Toneelgroep Amsterdam, where he appeared in numerous productions, including Kings of War, Roman Tragedies, and Scenes from a Marriage.

Since 2017 he's performed in a wide range of productions with companies such as Het Nationale Theater, Rudolphi Producties, Suburbia, and in A Seat at the Table by Black Sheep Can Fly. In addition, Alwin has taken on various musical roles, including performances with IJ-salon. For television, he has appeared in series such as Flikken Rotterdam, Odds, Tropenjaren, and Van der Valk.

In season 26/27, he will return to ITA in the revival of The Hours (De uren), directed by Eline Arbo.
