Kjersti Horn
In 2026 ITA welcomes Norwegian director Kjersti Horn, who creates her first production with the ensemble. Horn is regarded as one of the leading innovators of Scandinavian theatre, with work that constantly questions the boundaries between the personal and the political. Her productions explore themes of power, marginalisation and vulnerability, often from an outspokenly feminist and socially engaged perspective.
In the 2026/27 season she directs the ITA Ensemble in Wuthering Heights.
CV
Kjersti Horn studied directing at the Dramatiska Institutet in Stockholm and works with both classical texts and contemporary writers. Her productions are marked by a strong visual and physical style. For many years Horn was resident director at the Nationaltheatret and at Det Norske Teatret in Oslo, where she became artistic director in 2025. She has been nominated several times for the Heddaprisen, Norway's most prestigious theatre awards.
In the Best Director category her nominations include her adaptations of Hamlet, History of Violence, Chaos is Neighbour of God and Scenes from a Marriage. In 2023 she won the Heddaprisen for directing Romeo og Julie at Den Nationale Scene, and also received the award for outstanding artistic achievement.
