QUANZA’s musical practice is fuelled by a growing interest in Winti. With his guitar in hand, he engages in a dialogue with the histories and memories present in the theatre: from the administrators, bankers and entrepreneurs who made the construction possible, to the workers who were once led through a separate entrance to the cheapest seats.
For Radical Space, QUANZA is developing a performance in which guitar, percussion and dance come together in a new sonic ritual.

Radical Space in The Bookshop
This programme is part of Radical Space. The Bookshop was once the entrance to the amphitheatre's balcony, intended for the 'common people' who paid less for a ticket. This separated these visitors from the wealthy Amsterdammers, board members, mayors, and nobility who were admitted through the main entrance. This class divide is of course no longer actively in use today. But could it be that traces of this past still shape the way our society functions?
Radical Space aims to break through these patterns and commissions makers to enter into dialogue with our past. Through performances and conversations, they interrogate the class structures within our society.
