At its centre is the architect Howard Roark, played by Ramsey Nasr, who refuses to compromise his artistic convictions. In that way the production grew into a debate about the role of art and creativity in a world in which commerce is becoming ever more dominant.
 

The production had its premiere at the Holland Festival 2014 and later played at the Festival d'Avignon and in New York, among other places. Critics praised the scale, ambition and visual power of the production, which became one of the most talked-about international productions by Toneelgroep Amsterdam of that period.
