Heijmans and Vrienten met whilst watching the musical Hadestown. There, they discovered a shared love of roots music: folk, blues, country and everything in between. And for the stories told through that music; about love and loss, longing and coming home, ordinary people and their fates. They soon realise just how closely that American tradition is actually linked to Dutch cabaret. On both sides of the ocean, life is celebrated through poignant lyrics, dark humour and a healthy dose of self-deprecation.

Together with two top musicians, Heijmans and Vrienten take you on a musical journey between the Jordaan and the Mississippi. Featuring new songs, well-known tunes and music by artists including Townes Van Zandt and Randy Newman. At times intimate and fragile, at others groovy and four-part harmony. A theatre concert with the atmosphere of O Brother, Where Art Thou?, in which four men ultimately do what they love most: playing and singing together.
