Today, Her Majesty Queen Máxima paid us a visit. The focus of the visit was on how we, as a house of theatre, are finding new ways and new audiences with creativity and flexibility in these times of crisis, such as with our streaming platform ITALive.
Her Majesty's visit consisted of various parts. There was a discussion with board members Margreet Wieringa and Wouter Van Ransbeek about how ITA is doing after a year of the corona pandemic, which developments we have been through and which new perspectives there are.
Queen Máxima also visited the rehearsals of The Hours, where she talked to creative makers about how they experience these times and deal with the restrictions. -|-Finally, she talked to employees of various departments about ITALive. What challenges do the box office and technical department face in their daily work around this new form of theatre production?
Video technician Mark Thewessen: "The Queen was almost amazed by our set-up, so many screens together. It was nice to be able to explain to her how complex and challenging our work for ITALive is."
Wouter van Ransbeek: "We feel honoured to have been able to give Queen Máxima a look behind the scenes and that she turns out to be a ITALive fan. She was very impressed by the energy in our theatre, where despite all restrictions cast, crew and office workers work hard every day to play beautiful shows for you as soon as possible."
