Het gras hier is groener
In HetGras hier is Groener, seven dancers move into an impressionistic stage landscape that resembles Dejeuner sur L'herbe by the painter Manet. However, this idyll soon shows disturbing technological disturbances and turns out to be a make-believe world in which the dancers' consciousnesses live. In reality, however, their bodies hang frozen in liquid nitrogen, in the so-called “dewars” of a cryogenic facility, waiting for the technological development that will bring their bodies back to life.
-|-
Manet's painting hangs on the wall in this cryogenic facility. An old man looks around to discuss his possible freezing with the owner; a woman who has built a business empire on our insatiable desire for immortality. A dialogue like a chess game develops, with the human condition as the stake. The big questions about the meaning and essence of our existence are put back in the hands of the public in a confrontational and inescapable way.
In 2022, Dunja Jocic received the VCSD Swan for the best dance production of the season. With her dance language that is as intense as it is humorous, she is one of the most exciting dance makers of this moment. Her very personal performances are always topical and poignant.
