Female strength

Some stories change when you look at them through different eyes. What if Shakespeare’s Richard III were actually a woman? What if the lead character in Ibsen’s The Master Builder were a single mother with a successful career, rather than a man?

This season, ITA once again welcomes strong women to create productions with the ensemble. Kjersti Horn brings new meaning to Wuthering Heights, while Alize Zandwijk adds a perspective to Richard that has long remained out of view: that of women living under occupation. Eline Arbo adapts The Copenhagen Trilogy, a production about a woman whose time had not yet come.

The work of these powerful women does not stand alone. Throughout the programme, you will find productions that centre female perspectives, are created by inspiring women, or question the role and position of men (or women). Not to create an opposition. On the contrary, but to offer a richer and more nuanced view.
