Shows
Panic Room is an intimate and corporeal performance about dying and saying goodbye. Where does the right to the longest life end and responsibility for another's death begin? After their successful collaboration on the family drama Sea of Silence, Floor Houwink ten Cate, Esther Duysker and Abke Haring join forces with Jacob Derwig for Panic Room.

Panic Room
In the middle of a No Man's Land stands a house where two lovers meet. One is ill and on the run from the inevitable end. The other is a war correspondent returning from a life-changing trip to a conflict zone. In a race against time, the past intrudes on them, forcing them to fillet each other to the bone.
-|-
When the world breaks through the walls and the room proves too small for their conflict, they travel to where an unfathomable loss lies buried deep under the hot sand. One thing is certain: in the deepest darkness lurks an even greater darkness.

Artist Talk
In this edition of our Artist Talks programme, moderator Selm Wenselaers joins the audience in a conversation with director Floor Houwink ten Cate. Sitting in the foyer, with a drink in hand, we discuss her work and working methods, motives and sources of inspiration. The Artist Talk takes place in the Pleinfoyer and starts ten minutes after the performance.
About Floor Houwink ten Cate
Director and writer Floor Houwink ten Cate (1987) creates urgent performances at the intersection of theatre, opera and film, based on personal questions of conscience. In her visual and physical portraits, she celebrates life's discomfort and pain by reducing major moral dilemmas to the human scale and by blowing up underexposed problems to operatic proportions.
About Theater Utrecht
Theater Utrecht is Utrecht's city company and makes explicitly engaged theatre, focusing on existential themes. Always in a new narrative, and in new forms. We draw on all possible sources: from personal stories, literature and music to fashion houses, pop culture and clubs. Our makers experiment uninhibitedly with new techniques, narrative forms and audience relations, and so we deliberately explore the outer reaches of theatre.
