Cabaret Deconstruit
Cabaret Deconstruit
Shows
With burlesque lightness and sardonic pleasure, Cabaret Deconstruit offers an entirely unique view of the world around us in which one thing is clear: things cannot go on like this! With music, song, dance and spoken word, the performance shows what a livable future can look like.
LeineRoebana presents pompous entertainment in these dark days. Well-chosen movements, voiced words, vocals and sonorous sounds cast their brittle rhythms over the problems of our time. Prompted by the fools stirring their instruments and putting their bodies and souls at the service of art, the stories tell themselves.

Dansersfonds honours choreographic duo LeineRoebana
Choreographers Andrea Leine and Harijono Roebana will receive this year's Merit Award from Stichting Dansersfonds '79.
From the jury: "The two have remained impressively true to their first starting point: intuitively creating associative performances in which 'physical thinking', veracity and the autonomous power of dance are paramount. In doing so, they explicitly choose to combine dance with live music, resulting in a series of impressive performances."
About LeineRoebana
LeineRoebana, the dance company of choreographers Andrea Leine and Harijono Roebana, fulfils through its unique, idiosyncratic dance language and working methods a place of its own in the Dutch and international dance world. The company is known for its exciting physical dance idiom and the central role of live performed music in its work. LeineRoebana's productions surprise with extraordinary interweaving of contemporary dance, text, design and the most diverse musical timbres. In the choreographies, artists from different cultures disciplines and backgrounds meet and relate to the world around us. This is how they connected in their successful productions GhostTrack and LIGHT contemporary dance with gamelan music and musicians from Indonesia.

Music has an equal place in the work. Together, music and dance form one whole. One breath. A change in dance affects music and vice versa. A musical thought continues into movement. A dance theme becomes music. In the layered productions of the company, both dancers and musicians move. LeineRoebana has worked with composers such as Tan Dun, Iwan Gunawan and Kate Moore and musicians such as violinist Liza Ferschtman, guitarist Wiek Hijmans and singer Elisabeth Hetherington. Besides productions for the theatre, LeineRoebana creates performances at special locations such as LOST INTIMACY #1 and #2 in a former industrial building, Het Klooster Breda or site-specific performances among the greenery at music festivals Wonderfeel and Oerol.
In the press
Theaterkrant (critic's choice)
'As a spectator, you experience Cabaret Deconstruit like a dream.'
Trouw
'Big asset is composer Dyane Donck's four-piece band with a great clash of classical, electronica and pop. Flanked by mezzo-soprano Els Mondelaers, it switches effortlessly from hushed cello sounds to a raucous punk outburst.'
Volkskrant
'Cabaret Deconstruit is certainly whimsical, daring too, and strangely comforting at times through sudden references to a terrifying, political reality that you would hope was just a nightmare full of dancing words.'
BN De Stem
'A rapid succession of acts, in which celebration and ruin go hand in hand.'
