Matteo Simoni

In 2009 Matteo Simoni (1987) graduated as an actor from the former Studio Herman Teirlinck, where his tutors included Dora van der Groen, Frank Focketyn, Robby Cleiren, Peter Gorissen, Jan Bijvoet and Stany Crets. He did work placements at Bad van Marie (AC Ransart, 2008) and Olympique Dramatique (Adams appels, 2009). He and several fellow graduates co-founded the FC Bergman theatre company. The show De thuiskomst (2008) won the Young Theatre Prize at Theater aan Zee (2009) and Wandelen op de Champs-Elysées… (2009) was selected for the Dutch Theatre Festival 2010. In 2011 FC Bergman made 300 el x 50 el x 30 el and in 2012 Terminator Trilogie. In 2013 FC Bergman made Van den vos at Toneelhuis.

C.V.

After various support roles in television series between 2006 and 2009, including 16+, Vermist, Sara, Super8 and Spoed, he played a lead role in the soap LouisLouise (2009), in the Eyeworks’ drama series Rang 1 (2011) and the comic series Safety First (2013). Matteo also appeared in Jan Verheyen’s feature film Zot van A (2010) and in Hugo Claus’s play Een bruid in de morgen (2011) at NTGent. In 2013 Matteo Simoni played the lead role of the young Rocco Granata in Stijn Coninckx’s film Marina. In the 2014-2015 season he is making Het land Nod (The Land of Nod) with FC Bergman at Toneelhuis, he acts in Maria Stuart (Ivo van Hove) and he appears in Frank Van Passel’s new series, Amateurs (2014).
