An atmospheric meeting place where guests come together for lunch, dinner, drinks or a festive reception. With its terrace on the square and its historic architecture, De Brasserie is a pleasant, accessible and friendly space for all kinds of events.

When there are no shows at the Stadsschouwburg, De Brasserie is available for exclusive hire. Combined with the Rotonde, the Salon, the Ajax Foyer and the Ajax Balcony, it becomes a versatile event venue right in the centre of Amsterdam.

From carriages to encounters

Where visitors come together today for lunch, dinner or a drink, guests of the Stadsschouwburg once arrived by carriage. The main entrance was then reserved for well-to-do audiences. In front of the entrance were the box office windows, whose frames are still visible today. Beneath the balcony was a covered passage, so that well-to-do visitors could step out of their carriages without getting wet in bad weather. Today the space beneath the balcony is the place to be on a warm summer evening.
