The Nieuwe Foyer sits next to the Rabozaal and hovers above the Lijnbaansgracht and the Melkweg. Thanks to its large windows, its views over the city and its open layout, the space feels light and airy. A pleasant, modern place to come together, exchange ideas or receive guests.

The foyer can be reached both through the main entrance of Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam and via its own entrance on the Lijnbaansgracht. That makes the space excellent for stand-alone use, but also easy to combine with the Rabozaal, Studio 1 and Studio 2.

A modern foyer with a surprising vista

During the construction of the Rabozaal, which opened in 2009, the Stadsschouwburg and the neighbouring Melkweg were cleverly connected to one another. In the hall of the new building, the base of an original factory chimney is still visible. It recalls the industrial past of the Melkweg, whose building first served as a sugar factory and later as a dairy.

The Rabozaal was fitted in between the Stadsschouwburg and the Melkweg. The adjoining Nieuwe Foyer cantilevers out above the Melkweg and the Lijnbaansgracht, which makes it appear to float above the city. The facade too nods to Amsterdam: behind the dark, perforated metal a rippling orange pattern shimmers, inspired by the city's characteristic roof tiles.
